Team IV (14 February – 10 April 2017)

Hello!

We are Team IV and we are very excited to be part of the project. From 14 February to 10 April 2017 we will be continuing the work at Ban Sikeud Primary School, Phang Heng Primary School, Phang Heng Secondary School, and the Lao-German Technical College.

In the following, we are going to introduce ourselves:

Hi, I’m Alyssa and I’m 22 years old. I teach at Ban Sikeud Primary School, where I work with different groups. These are Mit and Noy, the two English teachers, as well as Linda, Madame Engel’s assistant, and Souphaphone, the school’s head teacher. Another task is conducting “English Activities” with the pupils in the afternoon. Besides, I take care of the English “Lending Library” together with Jessica.

Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m 24 years old. I am at Phang Heng Primary School. Unfortunately the second English teacher Lathsamy just left but I hope they will find another teacher soon. At the moment I give English “teacher lessons” to Bounpheng, the first English teacher. Besides, I am in charge of the pre-schoolers, who now go by the nickname “Mopsy children”, or, “the Mopsies” (after “Mopsy”, the hand puppet). Together with Alyssa, I’m responsible for the Lending Library and for the teacher lesson plans.

Hi, my name is Venetia and I am 20 years old. I study English and Home Economics for Secondary School. I teach the pre-school kids with “Mr. Mopsy” in Ban Sikeud and the “non-English” teachers in Ban Phan Heng. My special task is housekeeping. I like doing sports in my leisure time and playing football.

My name is Rebecca. I’m 22 and I study education with the main subjects English and chemistry. I am responsible for the new Chemistry & Physics Laboratory at Ban Phang Heng Lower Secondary School and there I also teach English to one of the “non-English” teachers. I love being creative and to make music.

Hello, my name is Veronika and I am 26 years old. Besides teaching the science teachers Phit, Latsamee, Chanmany, and Khamsee at Phang Heng Secondary School, together with Rebecca I am responsible for the (new) “Pageflow” and the science lab. I am looking forward to working with the Lao teachers and lots of exciting moments.

Hello! My name is Laura and I am 23 years old. I study English ad Home Economics at the University of Education in Karlsruhe. I work at Phang Heng Secondary School. I am excited about meeting everybody and hope we will have a good experience.

Hi everyone, my name is Tanja, I’m 26 years old and currently in my third semester. My subjects are English and biology, which interest me a lot. I’ve never been to an Asian country before and therefore I’m looking forward to getting to know the culture and the people there. I’m excited to work with the Lao teachers and am sure that it will be a great experience for all of us.

Hi, I’m Amelie and I’m 23 years old. Together with Christiane and Stephanie I offer English classes and Conversation Clubs at the Lao-German Technical College in Vientiane. I am very happy to help the Lao teachers and staff at the college improve their English skills. For me it is an awesome opportunity to see how education in a completely different culture works and how it can possibly be improved.

My name is Christiane and I am 22 years old. I have wanted to become a teacher ever since I was a child and I am glad I could take the chance of enrolling in a teaching degree. But I am so much more happy to get the chance of seeing teaching in different places. So far I am very lucky to have had the chance a few times already and I can’t wait to see what I can learn in Vientiane!

Hi, my name is Stephanie and I’m 26 years old. I teach the beginner classes at the Lao-German Technical Collage in Vientiane. I also take care of the Lending Library and the Conversation Club with Amelie and Christiane. I am really happy to work at the college and meet all the people.
